PHANTOM-X, founded in 2004 in Dallas, play pure US-Power Metal, both melodic and heavy. With their previous three studio albums „Rise Of The Phantom“, „Storm Riders“ (both released by Mausoleum Records) and „This Is War“ (Perris Records) they established themselves as a great Underground Metal act. Vocalist and keyboarder Kevin Goocher was also the singer of Omen on their comeback album „Eternal Black Dawn“ in 2004. Of course, the other band members have also been around in the scene in bands like Tyr (US), Strangers and Ocanthus.
The new 4th studio album is different insofar that it is created as concept album. Some songs were already released on the previous albums, but they were re-recorded and joined by new tracks to round up and finish the story. The dry sound of the album shows the pure strength of this classic US Metal masterpiece, which will bring teardrops into the eyes of all real Metal fans. The majestic guitar is amazing and the drumming pounds directly into your stomach. But the highlights of the album are the great varied, powerful, and clear vocals. Kevin Goocher is a perfect US Metal singer. 25 years ago he would have established himself as the best vocalist in the scene for sure! There are also a few keyboard parts on this album, but they are only used in the background of some parts and don’t disturb at all. The 17 featured songs – including a tribute to Ronnie James Dio (“Your Majesty”) – always change between uptempo-parts, ear-catching melodies and grooving midtempo-stuff. So, all different kinds of the genre can be heard here.
„The Opera Of The Phantom“ shows the best quality you can hear on any US Metal record!
